You did good kid!!
Here we are at the end of the year, recognising how tired people are. Inbox fatigue and sprinting or stumbling to the finish line. So to return you some magical neural energy I’d love to guide you through celebrating you.
Quickly, what’s neural energy…. its great, it happens to you all the time, you just might not know to be grateful for it. This is that special energy that has nothing to do with food, it’s the energy contained within a lifeforms’ nervous system. To use a very non sciencey terms this is the lift in energy we get from seeing our favourite people, being able to do beyond human feats in emergencies, & solo, experiencing joyous moments or the buzz of gratitude … that bump in liveliness transferred between humans or with in us when something … well sparks joy; EVEN when you’ve got nothing left in the tank.
Today you are going to tap into this energy with 8 coaching questions to help you celebrate all the cool stuff you did this year!
HOT TIP before you launch in.
It is wild, but our brains try to protect us from getting to far ahead of ourselves, by limiting celebrating ourselves. Or we might have socially learnt biases that limit us from crediting ourselves.
Ways your brain will do this is with thoughts are like double guessing ourselves, crediting others with greater achievements by comparison, limiting our achievements as being less than perfect… you know the types of things.
This is not the time for that. Most of the time these thoughts are commonly not true and not helpful towards doing what matters. And right now what matters is acknowledging your greatness.
Here are your two ways to counter that so your answers are authentic:
1) Thank your brain! Every time it comes up with a counter argument or is limiting your celebration, just thank it. “Thank you brain, but that is little dramatic”
&
2) Defuse the words. Repeat to yourself for 10 seconds the unhelpful thoughts.
Eg: “I’m not worth celebrating” …..
“I’m having the thought I’m not worth celebrating” …..
“I notice I”m having the thought I’m not worth celebrating”
Ok now that your mind is not bullying you so much here we go with your top 8 reflection questions for celebrating you!!
